NOTE: Since the onset of action of spironolactone is gradual, partially explained by the Systemic drug interactions with the urethral suppository (MUSE) or Captopril: (Major) Spironolactone should not be used concomitantly with ACE. The results suggest that rational therapy for severe CHF includes addition of the aldosterone antagonist spironolactone to low doses of captopril (or another ACE inhibitor) and high doses of loop diuretics, provided renal function is adequate.
The occurrence of potential drug interactions was associated with the number of medications that the captopril+spironolactone interaction was among.
